Rabeprazole Sodium 20mg.+Levosulpiride (SR) 75 mg.

INFORMATION ABOUT REBFON-LS :

Rabeprazole & Levosulpiride is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux), intestinal ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome.

HOW RABEPRAZOLE LEVOSULPIRIDE WORKS?:

Rebfon-LS Capsule Mechanism: Levosulpiride and Rabeprazole. Levosulpiride is a prokinetic increase in the release of acetylcholine. This increases the movement of the stomach and intestines and prevents reflux (where acid going up to the food pipe). Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It reduces the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and ulcers.

INTRACTIONS:

Drug interactions of Rebfon-LS may change how your medications work or increase the risk for serious side effects. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) and should be shared it with doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without Doctor’s approval.

Another product that may interact with Rebfon-LS is Ethotrexate (especially high-dose treatment).

Some products need stomach acid so that the body can absorb them properly. Rabeprazole decreases stomach acid, so it may change that product’s work. Some affected products include ampicillin, atazanavir, erlotinib, nelfinavir, pazopanib, rilpivirine, certain azole antifungals (itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole), among others.

PRECAUTION ABOUT REBFON-LS:

Before taking REBFON-LS (rabeprazole), ensure if you are allergic to it; or to similar drugs (such as lansoprazole, omeprazole); or if you have any other allergies.

Before using REBFON-LS, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially about liver disease, lupus.

Rabeprazole (Proton pump inhibitors) may increase the risk for bone fractures, when longer use, higher doses, and in older adults. Talk with doctor or pharmacist about ways to prevent bone loss/fracture, such as by taking calcium (such as calcium citrate) and vitamin D supplements.

SIDE EFFECTS: 

Rebfon-LS may rarely cause a severe intestinal condition (Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea) due to a type of bacteria. Do not use anti-diarrhea or opioid medications if you have any of the following symptoms because these products may make them worse. Consult the doctor right away if you develop: persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain/cramping, fever, blood/mucus in your stool.

Rarely, Rabeprazole proton pump inhibitors have caused vitamin B-12 deficiency. The risk is increased if the Rabeprazole is taken every day for a long time (3 years or longer). Tell your doctor right away if you develop symptoms of vitamin B-12 deficiency sore tongue or numbness/tingling of the hands/feet).
