Ceffon Dry Syrup
Ceffon dry syrup is a combination of two medicaments cefixime 50 mg and Lactic Acid Bacillus 2.5 million spores per 5 ml of reconstituted suspension. The medicine comes in an orange flavor so that kids can swallow it easily, the bitter taste of cefixime is masked very well with different types of taste-masking agents and sugar.
USES OF CEFIXIME ORAL SUSPENSION:
Cefixime dry syrup is used in many bacterial and germicidal infections. The medicine is widely used in cold and cough-like infections along with paracetamol syrup. This is used in Otitis Media infections to get fast and good results.
Cefixime oral suspension is also used in strep throat and urinary tract infections in children. This is the primary drug in such infections and found very efficient over the years.
It is very common to get pneumonia infections in infants and children below 6 years, cefixime oral suspension is used very commonly in Pneumonia. Hence these days due to overuse of antibiotics some children are found to be resistant to cefixime therapy but overall cefixime is used in large numbers.
It is also used for Lyme disease.
It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. The elimination half-life is about 3 hours.

What is cefixime oral suspension used for?
Cefixime oral suspension is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections in children. Cefixime is a cephalosporin group antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Cefixime is used for several other bacterial infections including Stitis media infections, strep throat, Pneumonia, and Typhoid.
CEFIXIME USE IN CHILDREN
Cefixime is widely used for otitis media, streptococcal pharyngitis, treatment of children with sinusitis, ‘bronchitis’ or pneumonia, urinary tract infection, treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea infections, gastroenteritis caused by Salmonella and Shigella species.
Cefixime may interact with Salicylic acid and Probenecid.
In children 8mg/kg body weight daily single dose or two divided doses. Cefixime is not recommended for children below 6 months of age.
