Description
Azifon-250 Azithromycin tablet is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. Azithromycin is a macrolide-type antibiotic. It can also be used for a number of sexually transmitted infections, including chlamydia and gonorrhea infections. Along with other medications, it may also be used for malaria. It can be taken by mouth.
AZITHROMYCIN 250MG TABLETS USES:
Azifon-250 Azithromycin tablet is used to treat diverse infections, used to the Prevention and treatment of acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease due to H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, or S. pneumoniae. Azifon-250 is used in Community-acquired pneumonia due to C. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, M. pneumoniae, or S. pneumoniae. In Uncomplicated skin infections, Trachoma, in Genital ulcer disease, is also used in Acute bacterial sinusitis due to H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, or S. pneumoniae. and commonly used in Pharyngitis or tonsillitis.
SIDE EFFECTS OF AZITHROMYCIN 250MG TABLET:
Although Azithromycin has very few side effects, Common side effects may be nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and upset stomach. An allergic reaction, such as anaphylaxis, QT prolongation, or a type of diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile is possible. It works by decreasing the production of protein, thereby stopping bacterial growth.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Azithromycin works as it prevents bacteria from growing by interfering in their protein synthesis. It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, thus inhibiting the translation of mRNA. Nucleic acid synthesis is not affected.
DRUG INTERACTIONS OF AZITHROMYCIN-250MG TABLET:
Azithromycin has few drug Interactions like nelfinavir, it increases azithromycin serum concentrations when co-administered with nelfinavir.
Azithromycin may potentiate the effects of oral anticoagulants such as warfarin.
