FTOX-AM Syrup: Uses, Dosage, and Effectiveness:

Introduction: 

Ambroxol, Terbutaline, Guaiphenesin, and Menthol Syrup is a combination of four ingredients that cure coughs by dissolving heavy mucus and facilitating coughing. Terbutaline Sulphate is a bronchodilator that is suitable for relaxing the muscles in the airways and widening the airways. The Ingredient Ambroxol present in this combination is a mucolytic,   it works by loosening the mucus and making it easier to cough out. Menthol is another significant ingredient that generates a sensation of coolness and helps to relieve throat irritation. 

It is a very prominent cough syrup formula for productive cough situations. It is safe and does not make dizziness and sedative effects on the body. 

Ftox-AM is a syrup used for different types of coughs when phlegm or mucus is released during the cough. It contains Terbutaline sulfate, Ambroxol Hydrochloride, Guaiphenesin, and Menthol.

The Role of Ambroxol in Cough Relief

Ambroxol Hydrochloride is a mucolytic class drug that works by breaking down mucus into smaller molecules. This process makes the mucus thinner and easier to cough out. It helps to reduce inflammation in the airways. 

Ambroxol stimulates the production of surfactant that is present in the airways and keeps it moist. It helps to produce less mucus when the airways remain moist. 

The dosage of ambroxol varies according to the age, symptoms, and dosage form it is intended to use in patients. The usual dose of ambroxol in tablet is 30mg and in liquid oral, it is 15mg/ 5ml to 30mg/ 5 ml with single or multiple co-ingredients. 

Terbutaline: Managing Bronchial Spasms and Wheezing

Terbutaline is a bronchodilator in nature. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways widening the airways and making it easier to breathe. 

Terbutaline sulphate is a beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist, therefore, it can bind and activate beta-2 receptors. Beta-2 receptors are found on the surface of cells in the body and in the airways. Due to its significant effect on Beta-2 receptors, Terbutaline is able to provide relaxation to muscles in the airways help to them breathe easier.

Terbutaline inhibited the release of inflammatory mediators that can help to reduce the inflammation in the airways.

Terbutaline sulphate increases the size of airways which helps to breathe easily. 

Terbutaline is a type of drug known as a short-acting beta-2 agonist. It is used in the treatment of various respiratory conditions such as asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It is also used widely in preterm labor. It is available in different dosage forms like tablets, capsules, Injectables, Oral syrup, and inhalers. 

Guaiphenesin: Enhancing Expectorant Action

Guaifenesin is an expectorant in nature. It helps to loosen and remove the mucus from the airways. It increases the volume of mucus by diluting its viscosity in the respiratory tract secretions. This process makes coughing out the mucus easier. 

Guaiphenesin is available in several types of cough syrup, as a single ingredient or with other Brochidilator, mucolytics, and suppressants like Terbutaline, Ambroxol, and Bromhexine. It is also available in tablet or capsule forms. It is usually taken by mouth as an oral medicine. However,  it can also be given by injection. 

The dosage of Guaiphenesin depends on the age, symptoms, and severity of cough. The accurate dose is advised by the doctor for a particular patient. 

Menthol: Soothing Throat Irritation and Congestion

Menthol is an organic medicine that is used in plant form as well as processed compound forms. It is used in medicine and the food industry for cooling and soothing effects on the throat. In cough syrups, it produces a sensation of coolness and relieves minor throat irritation. It is used in cough syrups, cough drops, and lozenges.

The dosage of Menthol is different in different dosage forms, It is 0.5 mg to 2.5 mg per 5 ml in oral syrups and cough syrups. 

Uses of Ambroxol, Terbutaline, Guaiphenesin, and Menthol syrup

It is a very popular syrup among people suffering from a productive cough, irritating cough, or cough with chest sounds. Since it contains Guaiphenesin that loosens the mucus and helps to take breath easily. It provides a way of breathing by unblocking the vessel of the nose and lungs. Ftox-AM syrup is a combination of Ambroxol, Terbutaline sulphate, Guaiphenesin, and Menthol. It is used to relieve cough and congestion. Since it is a potent combination, it may have some side effects that are listed here:

• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Stomach discomfort
• Sweating and muscle cramps
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Rash
• Tremor (shakiness)
• Palpitations (uneven heartbeat)
• Increased heart rate.

Safety and Precautions:

Ambroxol, Terbutaline Sulfate, Guaiphenesin, and Menthol syrup is fixed-dose combination medicine (FDC) that is not found thumb rule safe for all. Since it has four different category molecules, there are limited clinical trial safety data for the combination. You should not use this combination OR consult your doctor if you have the following symptoms:

1. Heart disease
2. Liver ailments
3. Kidney diseases
4. Stomach ulcers
5. High blood pressure
6. Thyroid disorders
7. Inflammation of air passages
8. Lung disorders
9. Seizures
10. Uncontrolled diabetes
11. Hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood)
12. Difficulty in breathing
13. If you are a Pregnant woman
